Obituary

Agnes M. (Kovach) Szczepanski, of Felton, peacefully entered into rest at her home on Friday, August 23, 2024, at the age of 77. She was the wife of the late Frank S. Szczepanski, Sr., who died on July 3, 1990. They are finally united in heaven after 34 years. Born in Baltimore on January 11, 1947 to the late Stephen Francis, Sr. and Geneva (George) Kovach, Aggie held various jobs throughout her life but found particular joy in housekeeping. In her leisure time, she delighted in crocheting, nurturing her garden, and shopping. A true Marylander at heart, Aggie loved picking crabs and will be fondly remembered for her cherished role as a "gammy." In recent years, she took great interest in discussing politics and staying engaged with current events. She also found joy in baking, in particular, her Jewish apple cake, and was well-known for her nurturing spirit. Above all, Aggie treasured the moments spent with her children and family. She was the best Ma ever. She is survived by her son, Frank S. Szczepanski, Jr., of Felton, and her daughter, Dana M. Evans (Andrew) of Lancaster County. Agnes also leaves behind her granddaughter, Keara G. Szczepanski of Florida; her brother, Stephen F. Kovach, Jr. (Chris) of Baltimore; as well as her cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Johnson. A viewing for Aggie will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Wagner-Elfner and Burg Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. Her funeral service will begin at 6:00 pm, with Deacon Fred Horn of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in New Freedom officiating. Burial will take place on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at St. Stanislaus Cemetery, 6515 Boston Street, Baltimore, MD 21224, at 11:00 am. Those wishing to attend are asked to arrive at the cemetery by 10:45 am. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Aggie's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
