YORKANA Andrew R. 'Andy' Palacios went home to be with his Lord and Saviour unexpectedly on Friday, March 18, 2011 at 8:50 a.m. at his residence at the age of 31. He was born in York on November 14, 1979 and was the son of Rodolfo R. and Ruthann M. (Mellinger) Palacios of Yorkana. He was a swimmer aboard the USS Rentz working in search and rescue; a faithful member of Manor Church in Lancaster where he was active in Respite Care Ministry and Joni & Friends Ministry. Andy graduated from Eastern York High School class of 1998 and was a United States Navy Veteran serving from 1999 to 2003. Besides his parents, Rodolfo R. and Ruthann M. (Mellinger) Palacios of Yorkana; three sisters, Dawn M. Palacios-Biscelli and husband Gary of Lititz and nieces, Hannah and Emma Sterner; Lori D. Keech and husband Michael of York and niece Kaitlyn and nephew Benjamin Keech; and Keri L. Palacios of Yoe and nephew Josiah Palacios; maternal grandmother, Ruth Mellinger of Columbia; several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by a maternal grandfather, Millard Mellinger; and a paternal grandmother, Bertha Weaver. There will be no viewing. Family and friends are invited to extend their condolences on Sunday, March 27, 2011, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Manor Church, 530 Central Manor Road, Lancaster 17603. A memorial service to celebrate Andy's life will begin at 2 p.m. at the church. His pastor, Brian L. Funk will officiate. To honor his duty to our country the York County Veterans Honor Guard will present full military rites at the church just prior to the start of the memorial service. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion, will be handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be offered to Joni & Friends Eastern PA, 340 Highland Drive., Suite 200, Mountville, PA 17554 or to Manor Church, 530 Central Manor Road, Lancaster, PA 17603. Andy had a very strong faith and lived each day for the Lord whom he loved with all his heart. His family was important to him, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his Dad. He was a wonderful son and brother. All the family times spent together that he loved so much will be memories cherished forever in our hearts. We love you, Mom, Dad, Dawn, Lori, Keri & family.
