Obituary

Barbara J. (Abersold) Trantham, formerly of Red Lion, went home to her Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at 6:44 am at Kindred Heart Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL ., at the age of 74. She was the wife of the late Jimmie J. Trantham who entered into rest on December 28, 2012. She was born in Philadelphia, on March 16, 1945 and was the daughter of the late George Emil and Annette (Bostick) Abersold. Barbara graduated from Kensington High School and continued her studies at the Philadelphia School of Nursing, earning a Licensed Practical Nursing degree, pursuing her career in nursing for 45 years, prior to her retirement. She was a longtime member of Pleasant Grove (East End) United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. Barbara enjoyed reading, playing cards, gardening and most of all, spending time with her family and grandchildren. She leaves her three daughters, Karen D. Trantham of Windsor, Deborah L. Basom and her husband Allen E. of Lewisburg, PA, Jennifer M. Page and her husband David A. of Tampa, FL, and her son, James Trantham and his wife Jennifer of Felton. She was the loving grandmother to: Devon J. Trantham (Jeannine) of Windsor, Kaitlan R. Trantham of Tampa, FL, Christopher Trantham of Felton, Megan E. Dowdy and Benjamin Dowdy, both of Tampa, FL, Joshua J. Trantham and Angela M. Trantham, both of Felton, and great grandmother to, Kaiden J. Trantham of Tampa, FL. She has three siblings, George Emil Abersold (Dorothy) of Cherry Hill, NJ, Gail Adler (Phil), of PA and John Abersold (Valerie) of Brogue , a sister in law, Mary Abersold of Philadelphia and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Cassandra Hutchinson in 1994 and her brother, William Abersold. Cremation took place in Florida. A Memorial Service to Honor and Praise Barbara's life will be on Saturday, July 6th, at 10 am, at Pleasant Grove (East End) United Methodist Church, 900 Pleasant Grove Road, Red Lion, with her former pastor, Rev. Joseph Yorks, officiating. Family and friends may extend their condolences from 9-10 am Saturday, at the church. Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion will be assisting with the arrangements. Burial will follow the service at Pleasant Grove (East End) Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Barbara's memory may be offered to: Alzheimer's Association, 2595 Interstate Drive, Ste. 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110, or to York Health Foundation/Parkinson's Disease, 45 Monument Road, Ste. 200, York, PA 17403.
