Barbara F. (Moore) Murtagh, of Brogue, went to her eternal home from Inner's Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at the age of 85. She was the wife of Joseph T. Murtagh, Jr., whom she married on October 13, 1962.

Born in West Chester on February 6, 1939, Barabara was the daughter of the late Alvin V. Sr. and Evelyn (Parker) Moore. Upon graduating from high school, she attended beautician school in Wilmington, Delaware and provided beauty services for several years before marrying Joe and becoming a homemaker. She was known for her wonderful meals she would cook, her baking abilities, and loved fox hunting. She took pride in her culinary abilities, always providing a warm, homemade breakfast for their friends at her home after a fox hunting excursion. She enjoyed spending time in her garden, planting flowers and found peace spending time outdoors.

Besides her husband, Barbara leaves her sons, Christopher J. Murtagh (Kimberly) of Brogue, Joseph "Stoney" T. Murtagh III (Caroline) of Cambridge, Maryland, as well as her daughters, Melissa T. Schindleldecker (Tammy) of Biglerville, and Kerrie S. Hayes (William) of Wellsboro. She will be missed by her grandchildren, Joseph T. Murtagh IV of Portland, Maine, Nicholas H. Murtagh (Brooke) of Ellsworth, South Dakota, Gracie Murtagh of Brogue, Katie Hayes of Philadelphia, and Codie Hayes (Adam) of North Salem, New York. She leaves her identical twin sister, Bonnie M. Morris of Oklahoma City and her brother, Alvin V. Moore, Jr. of Cheney, Pa.

Services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Wagner-Elfner and Burg Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion is assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Barbara's memory may be offered to the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, 100 N. 20th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103.
