IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barry
Bollinger
August 23, 1951 – April 27, 2024
Barry Bollinger, of York, entered into rest at Wellspan York Hospital on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at the age of 72. He was the husband of the late Barbara Jean Bollinger who died on December 21, 1996.
Born in Colorado on August 23, 1951 to the late Gene and Irene Bollinger. Barry grew up in Toccoa, GA where he was a lifeguard, Eagle Scout, and a radio announcer, among many other activities. Upon graduating high school, Barry attended the United States Merchant
Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY where he met his future wife, Barbara. Barry proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard. His dedication to maritime service was a testament to his patriotism and commitment to duty. He eventually "settled down" to raise a family and took a recruiting position with Quest Systems, a position he took great pride in. Barry was a jack of all trades and spent a brief period of time exploring stand-up comedy, and voice-over acting. Comedy was a great passion of Barry's, he was known for his corny jokes, and he loved to make people laugh. Barry was an extremely spiritual man and believed that God was everywhere. For many years his "church" was in the fields he walked through or in the comfort of his own living room. In his later years he decided to join a congregation and become a member of Eastside Assembly of God.
Barry leaves his daughter, Brittany Dawn Bollinger Mooney and husband, Bertram E. Mooney IV of Red Lion and son, Barry Alexander Bollinger of Duncannon. He leaves his niece, Kimberly Holland and husband, Caleb and nephew Cody Bollinger and wife, Kelli, all of Georgia. He was preceded in death by his brothers, David "Woody" Bollinger and Clayton Bollinger.
Services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Wagner-Elfner and Burg Funeral home & Cremation Services, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion is assisting the family with arrangements.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Hospice and Community Care for helping Barry remain comfortable during his final hours and for the compassion & care shown to the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Barry's memory may be offered to the Red Lion American Legion 543, 23 E. Broadway, Red Lion, PA 17356.
