Betty Jane (Penrod) Fleegle, age 77, of Loganville, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 23, 2026. Born in Everett on June 13, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Walter Penrod and the late Beulah Virginia (Warnick) Penrod. Betty was the loving wife and best friend of the late Paul A. Fleegle, who preceded her in death on March 10, 2020.
Betty lovingly cared for many children through the daycare she operated in her Loganville home for many years. She also worked for many years at Mickey’s Wholesale Pizza, hand stretching and saucing pizzas and was known as the “lunch lady”, for providing lunch for the employees every day, always bringing her special touch and kindness to those around her.
Betty was a devoted member of Red Lion Bible Church and held a strong and abiding faith in her Lord Jesus Christ. She was also a member of the “Brogue Stitch Club,” where she enjoyed sweet fellowship with friends and family while cross-stitching and embroidering. Through the years she found joy in coloring and crafting, painting, ceramics, making handmade greeting cards, and doing puzzles. Betty loved listening to bluegrass music, spending time with those she loved, and was famous for her homemade macaroni and cheese at family gatherings.
Betty and Paul shared a wonderful life grounded in faith and love. They were rarely apart and could often be found together at church, flea markets, car shows, and yard sales. He was the love of her life, and all who knew them could clearly see the deep bond they shared.
Betty is survived by her children: Kimberly J. Vicars and her husband, Parrish, Andrew C. Fleegle and his companion, Lisa Miller; and Elizabeth D. “Betsy” Pantano and her husband, Carmine W. Pantano. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Emily Cramer, Melody Cramer, Katie Cramer, Zachary Fleegle, Jessica Fleegle, Maria Fleegle, Wyatt Fleegle, Allison Smeltzer, and Georgia Pantano; her great-grandchildren, Lily and Tommy; and her brothers, Dale Penrod and Joe Penrod. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings LeRoy Stevey, Emma Stevey, Roger Stevey, Ronnie Stevey, Ben Penrod, and Fred Penrod.
A celebration of Betty’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Red Lion Bible Church, 105 Springvale Road, Red Lion, with Pastor Steven Schmuck officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 4, 2026, at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, 250 Chestnut Hill Road, York.
A verse that Betty held close to her heart, and one that reflected the hope she carried in Christ, was: “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” — John 3:16 (KJV).
