Obituary

Betty Jane (Shenk) Engle, age 91, of Windsor, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 2, 2025. Born in Bridgeton, NJ, on April 10, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin W. and Esther Jane (Stitely) Shenk. She shared a beautiful life with her beloved husband, the late Paul C. Engle, who preceded her in death on July 31, 2007.

With a heart full of compassion, Betty dedicated her life to caring for others as a licensed practical nurse at York Memorial Hospital. Her kindness extended beyond her professional life as she generously volunteered for the Meals and More program at Bethlehem Church of Dallastown. Betty found joy in sewing, playing the piano, and, most of all, creating precious memories with her family, who were the center of her world.

Betty's loving spirit will be deeply missed by her children: Janelle Morgans, wife of the late Robert Morgans; Cliff Engle and his wife, Yvette; the late Denise Collins and her husband, Ted Collins; Lori Beaver and her husband, Jay; and Teresa Bollis and her husband, David. She leaves behind a legacy of love in her 10 grandchildren Kim Scarcella (Jason), Brandon Morgans (Julie), Adam Engle, Keri Holley (Jason), Troy Engle (Jessica), Kelly Krajnik (Michael), Kristi Baublitz (John), Timothy Collins, Virginia Clegg (Jeremy), Alexander Bollis (Lindsey) and 18 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, husband Paul, daughter Denise, and son-in-law Robert, Betty was welcomed into eternal rest by her brother, Robert Shenk; sister, IsoDean Smeltzer; and her beloved grandson, Adam Engle.

A celebration of Betty's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Wagner-Elfner and Burg Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion, with Pastor Don Heindel officiating. She will be laid to rest in Windsor Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests contributions in Betty's memory be made to the Church of the Open Door, East York Campus, 4075 East Market Street, York, PA 17402, to honor her generous and loving spirit.
