Bradley D. Stell passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. He was 82. Bradley was born to Violet (Markey) Stell and Earl Stell of Red Lion on July 1, 1943. A graduate of Red Lion Area High School, he received a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from Millersville University and a master’s degree from Shippensburg University. He also received certification from Western Maryland College in both secondary education and administration. Bradley’s teaching career began in 1965 at Ore Valley Elementary before transferring to the Red Lion Area School District as head teacher of Edgar Moore Elementary School in 1967. Two years later, he moved to the junior high school as assistant principal, where he stayed for 19 years. He then returned to the elementary level as a building principal, eventually becoming director of the Red Lion Area elementary schools. In 2000, Bradley retired after a 35-year career in education.
Bradley enjoyed playing and watching all sports, especially basketball and tennis. He also studied martial arts. He enjoyed working around the house, taking care of the lawn, and riding his motorcycle. During retirement, he managed rental apartments in Red Lion with his brother. Bradley was also very proud of his grandchildren. He enjoyed visiting them and hearing about how they were doing in school, dramatic arts, and sports. Earlier in life, he was a volunteer attendant for the Red Lion Ambulance Club. Bradley was a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church of Red Lion and later joined the First Church of the Brethren in York, where he served on its church board. He was a lifetime member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association.
Bradley is survived by his wife of 60 years, three sons, and four grandchildren, all of whom he loved dearly. He is also survived by a younger brother. He was preceded in death by his parents and an older brother.
