Carl E. Gettys, of Dallastown, went from life to Life Eternal at ProMedica Dallastown on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 5:25am at the age of 90. He is now reunited with his wife, Gladys Marie (Geisler) Gettys, who entered into rest on March 15, 2021.
Born in Dover on May 18, 1932, Carl was the son of the late Charles R. and Emma L. (Zinn) Gettys and was a 1950 graduate of North York High School. A proud United States Army Veteran, Carl was an assistant office manager for National Cash Register Company before entering the service on December 11, 1952 and later, after his Honorable Discharge, a self employed accountant in Red Lion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking.
Carl leaves his sister, Miriam E. Spangler, of York and his two nephews, Michael D. Spangler and wife, Jane, of Brogue and Daniel E. Spangler and wife, Melony, of Hanover. He also leaves his niece, Rebecca E. Miller and husband, William, along with other family members who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his brother, Earl E. Gettys.
A Graveside Service to Honor and Praise both Carl and Gladys will take place on Friday, June 17, 2022 at 2:30pm at Salem Union Cemetery in Dover with Rev. Ken Loyer, Pastor of Spry Church in Spry, officiating. A flag folding ceremony will be presented by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway is assisting the family with arrangements.
