Obituary

Carole Potter, 86, of Red Lion, died on Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at Wellspan York Hospital. She was the wife of Thomas C. Potter, sharing 26 years of marriage.

Carole was born in Baltimore, Maryland on May 15, 1940, daughter of the late Martin and Carolyn Olchowski.

A proud graduate of Catholic High School in Baltimore, Class of 1958, Carole began her professional career as the Advertising Coordinator for Channel 2 before becoming a bookkeeper, working for several organizations. Her entrepreneurial spirit eventually led her to found Ap-Don Incorporated, a financial consulting business specializing in nursing homes. As co-owner and CEO, she built the company from the ground up and remained dedicated until her retirement.

Carole was known for her vibrant personality and wonderful sense of humor. A natural jokester, she loved making people laugh and brightening every room she entered. She enjoyed dancing, music, traveling, dining out, and gathering family and friends for parties. She was a gracious hostess who loved entertaining and creating memorable experiences for those she cared about. Among her favorite pastimes were visits to the casino, where she delighted in playing Keno and slot machines and often seemed to have a lucky touch. She was also an avid writer. At the time of her passing, she was working on several books and was the author of Females on Facebook. Carole found great joy in shopping, especially when buying gifts for others. She was selfless and generous, always willing to share her time, resources, and support with those in need. Her compassionate nature extended to numerous charitable organizations, which she faithfully supported throughout her life. Above all, Carole will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, determination, humor, and unwavering love for family and friends.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by four daughters, Michele Fielder and her husband, Don, Melanie Stutzman and her husband, John Stutzman II, Michelle Christakis, and Kimberly Potter and her husband, Matthew; five grandchildren, April Lafferman, Don Fielder, Jr., John Stutzman III, Ellie Stutzman, and Mia Christakis; two great granddaughters, Madelyn and Scarlett Crosby; and her brother, Dr. Allan Olchowski and his wife, Joann.

A viewing and time to share memories will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, June 12, 2026 at Wagner-Elfner and Burg Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 3070 Cape Horn Road, Red Lion.
