Carolyn J. (Kohler) Reever, of York, took the hand of her Lord and Savior on Friday, December 11, 2020 at 5:25 pm at Wellspan York Hospital, at the age of 89. She was the wife of the late Clyde E. Reever who entered into rest February 2002 and she was the loving companion of Phil Houck, who preceded her in death by just a few days, with whom they shared a wonderful, loving relationship, for the past twelve years. She was born in Red Lion on May 21, 1931 and was the daughter of the late Curvin A. and Cora K. (Lutz) Kohler. She graduated from Red Lion High School, class of 1948 and then graduated from the Thompson Business School in 1951. Carolyn worked for 35 years in the office at Met-Ed, retiring in 1986. She was a longtime and active member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in York, where she sang in the choir for 35 years. She was a former member of the Board of Directors of the SPCA and she loved all animals. Carolyn had two children, Carol Lynne Loflin and her husband Robert of NC and Philip Charles Dettinger and his wife Jill of York. She was the loving grandmother to Katrina M. Davies and her husband Chad of York, Ashley L. Galloway and her husband Tad of NC and John P. Dettinger of York and great grandmother of Seth, Kara, Leah, Kate and Will. She also has a sister, Cynthia D. Matchett of NC. A Service of Honor and Praise for Carolyn will be on Friday, December 18th, at 1 pm at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. Visitation will be from 12-1 pm. Her pastor, Rev. Dale Parker will officiate.
