ELIZABETHTOWN Carroll Taylor Posey, 90, formerly of Woodbine entered into rest on Friday, November 4, at 10:40 p.m. at Masonic Village, Elizabethtown. He was the husband of E. Hazel (Groff) Posey, of Elizabethtown, to whom he was married on May 15, 1943; celebrating 68 years together. Born in Woodbine, on September 11, 1921, he was the son of the late David R. and Clara (Taylor) Posey. He was an educator at Manchester, West York, Lower Chanceford and Red Lion School District for 32 years, retiring in 1975. When not teaching he devoted his time to farming. He was a WWII Army veteran serving in Japan. He was a life long member of McKendree UM Church where he taught and superintended Sunday school. Carroll also coached basketball and baseball. He received his degree at Elizabethtown College where he lettered in three sports. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Ellen P. Dempsey of Fleetwood, and husband, William, Betty P. Snyder of Salem, Va., and husband, William, Carolsue Hosler of Lititz, and husband, Paul, and Kim P. Kern of Dallastown, and husband, Ralph; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Rev. Dr. Harold E. Posey of Mt. Holly Springs; one sister, Joanne Jones of Lancaster; and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. Viewings will be Friday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion and Sunday, November 13, 2011, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at McKendree UM Church, 3708 Delta Road, Airville, PA 17302. The service will begin Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the church, with his brother his brother, Rev. Dr. Harold E. Posey officiating. Burial will be in McKendree UM Cemetery.
