Obituary

Charles Warren Aikin, formerly of Red Lion, entered into God's care on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Rest Haven- York at the age of 87. He was born in Joplin Missouri on February 22, 1931 and was the son of the late Roy and Viola (Drennan) Aikin. Mr. Aikin was a school teacher at William Penn Senior High School in York for many years, retiring in June of 1986. He was a member of the South Joplin Christian Church in Missouri, AARP and the U.S. Chess Federation. He served his country in the United States Army from August 14, 1953 to August 14, 1955, obtaining the rank of Corporal, trained as a radio operator. Charles is predeceased by a brother, Richard L. Aikin and his wife Evelyn in Indianapolis, Indiana. He is survived by three nephews. Cremation took place with Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. His inurnment will take place at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Webb City Missouri. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be offered: York College Community Opportunity Scholarship Program (YCCOSP), 441 Country Club Road, York, PA 17405-7199.
