Dean A. Hess Sr. of Windsor went home to be with the Lord on Saturday August 28, 2010, at 2:30 a.m.at his home at the age of 66. He was the husband to Annie "Anne" (Wilt) Hess to whom he married on January 7, 1967 and celebrated 43 years together.. Dean was born in Columbia, PA on July 22, 1944 and was the son of David B.and Mabel A. (Humbert) Hess. Dean was a life long farmer, and retired after 33 years of employment with Caterpillar and then worked a few years at Anderson Metal. He loved attending the North York Gospel Chapel where he served as an elder and taught Sunday School for many years. He collected and restored antique tractors. He enjoyed plowing with antique tractors with his son and son- in-law. Dean along with his son competed in the National Plowing Contest in Iowa. He enjoyed making home-made ice cream with his family and friends. Most of all he was a loving Husband, Father and "Pappy". In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by two children Suzanne Vega and husband Gene of York and Dean A. Hess Jr. and wife Rosemary of Windsor. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Abigail, Katelyn, Isaac, Chloe, Lauren, Nicholas and Nathan Dean is also survived by his sister, Kathleen Fuhrman and husband Bob of York and his in-laws Jerry and Annie (Foulk) Wilt of Harrisburg as well as many nieces and nephews Viewings will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, September 2, 2010 at the Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion and 9-10 a.m. Friday Sept 3, 2010 at the North York Gospel Chapel, 2854 Lewisberry Rd., York, PA. The service will follow 10 a.m.Friday at the Chapel with Elders Thomas Irwin and David Logan officiating. Burial will be at Salem Community Cemetery.
