Obituary

Debbie A. (Eckert) Smith, of Windsor, accepted the hand of her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at 2:56 pm from Penn State Hershey Medical Center at the age of 58. She was the wife of Kenneth W. Smith,Jr., of Windsor to whom she married on July 24, 1982, celebrating 39 years together. She was born on June 13, 1963, in York and was the daughter of the late John F., Sr. and Barbara A. (Riddle) Eckert. Deb graduated from York County Vocational Technical School in the Class of 1981. She held various positions over the years, but the most important was when she took the position of homemaker, caring for her only grandchild, Hayden, after his birth. She enjoyed watching the wildlife from her window, going camping, riding the motorcycle with her husband, and spoiling the kids in the family. She attended the Freedom Biker Church in York with Ken and was a very active, lifetime member of the Laurel Fire Company in Windsor. Deb was the loving mother of Jessica L. Myers and her husband Eric of Felton, and Amanda M. "Pee-Wee" and her wife Jessica Smith of Windsor. She was the grandmother of Hayden Myers of Felton, and the loving sister of Tammie S. Brown and her husband Brian of Windsor, she also leaves several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her son, Joshua "Jake" M. Smith who entered into God's care on October 5, 2005, with whom she is now reunited, and her brother, John F. Eckert, Jr. who entered into rest in 2004. Family and friends are invited to share condolences and memories during a time of viewing for Deb on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, from 6-8 pm at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. A Service of Honor and Praise for Deb will begin at 8 pm, with Pastor James R. Quoss, from Freedom Biker Church officiating. Burial will take place in Windsor Cemetery at a later date and will be private. A Celebration of Deb's life will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2022, to coincide with her 40th wedding anniversary to Ken, at 1 pm at the Laurel Fire Company.
