Debra J. (Hinton) Ison, of Windsor, died peacefully in her sleep on June 9, 2024 at the age of 66. She was the best friend and wife of James A. Ison, Jr., whom she married on November 29, 1993.

Debra was born in Arizona on Fort Huachuca Army Base on December 14, 1957 to the late Ronald Joseph and Joan (Bowers) Hinton. She attended nursing school at the former St. Joseph's in Lancaster and served as a dedicated nurse at St. Joseph's where she began her career. She then became the charge nurse at the former Memorial Hospital in the ICU. For the past 21 years, Debra was a valued staff member on the medical team at York County Prison where she provided compassionate care and support to individuals. She absolutely adored her grandchildren more than anything in the world, loved to hate her job, playing Candy Crush, and was an avid reader. In her earlier years, she enjoyed gardening. More than anything, she cherished time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she will be missed by her son, Nicholas J. Ison (Heather) of York, and daughter, Stephanie J. Ison (Robert Finley) of Woodford, VA. She leaves her step-daughter, Jennifer R. Ison of Orrstown, her grandchildren, Kobrin M. Nonemaker (Autumn) of Windsor, Isaac A. Ison of York, OJ Finley of Woodford, VA, Harper A. Finley of Woodford, VA, and her sister, Missy E. Hinton of Ephrata. She will be missed dearly by her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Debra was preceded in death by her brother, David R. Hinton.

A viewing for Debra will take place on Friday, June 14, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Wagner-Elfner and Burg Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. Per the family's request, there will not be a funeral service. Burial will be private.
