Donna Lee (Poff) Knaub, formerly of Red Lion, entered into God's care on Monday, June 11, 2018 at 4:09 AM at Colonial Manor Nursing Home at the age of 74. She was the loving wife of James W. Knaub of York. A heartfelt thank you goes to the staff of the nursing home for the care given to Donna, and compassion to her family during this difficult time.
Donna was born in Red Lion on January 26, 1944 and was the daughter of the late Gladys (Frey) and her husband Paul Robinson. She worked at Harley Davidson and then went to work at Gichner Shelter System in Dallastown, retiring in 2000 after many years of service.
Besides her husband, Jim, Donna leaves a daughter, Cindy Lou Jewell of Harrisburg, her sister, Deborah O'Donnell and husband Richard of Abbottstown, and a brother, Russell Robinson of York, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves her personal friends and caregivers, Karen and John Krone and Beverly and Dan Markey. She was preceded in death by her son, Donald R. Shoff in 1982, her beloved cat, Fluffy, and siblings, Dale Poff, Ken Poff and Dennis Robinson.
Family and friends are invited to share condolences on Sunday, June 17th from 6-8 pm and Monday, June 18th from 10-11 am at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. A Service of Honor and Praise for Donna will begin at 11 am on Monday at the funeral home with Rev. Tom Beck, pastor of St. Peters Church in Seven Valleys, officiating. Burial will be at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Those planning to attend the services are asked to please come casually dressed.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be offered to the American Heart Association, 610 Community Way, Lancaster, PA 17603, or to the Dementia Society of America, PO Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901.
Donna was the love of Jim's life. They were married on February 8, 1981, celebrating 37 years together. When she looked at him, it was always with a glimmer in her eyes, as if she was seeing him for the first time and falling in love. She loved to dance, and was an avid bingo player and always made time for her family. The beauty I see now is beyond words, nothing can compare. I've even seen your mansion, and met Donnie there. Let Jesus be your guide, His word will show you the way. So, please don't cry for me, WE WILL MEET AGAIN SOMEDAY!
