Obituary

YORK Dorcas I. (Frey) Thompson, 94, entered into rest after a brief illness on Monday, November 7, 2011, at 7:21 p.m. at Pleasant Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of Harry M. Thompson, who entered into rest July 19, 1994. She was born in East Prospect on July 12, 1917, and was the daughter of the late James J. and Tillie B. (Tome) Frey. She was a homemaker, however she held various sales positions throughout her life. She was a very Godly woman. Dorcas loved flowers, and was very crafty and enjoying painting and making afghans. She is survived by two sons, Joel D. Thompson of Steelton and his wife, Cindy, and Philip D. Thompson of York; two daughters, Lois M. Miller-Willis of Seminole, Fla., and Jackie A. Rawlinson of York, and her husband, Stephen A.; four grandchildren, Thomas Miller, Carol Zeigler, Danielle Thompson, and Jenna Thompson; three great-grandchildren, Ashley and Tyler Miller, and Nevaeh Roberts; one brother, Gene Frey of Mt. Pisgah; two sisters, Frances Elfner of East Prospect and Jane Gentzler of York; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, Daniel Thompson. Viewing will be Monday, November 14, 2011, from 9 to 10 a.m. at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. The service will be 10 a.m. the funeral home on Monday, with the Rev. David D. Tietje, pastor of St. John's United Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in East Prospect (Riverview) Cemetery. Contributions may be offered to your favorite charity in memory of Dorcas.
