Dorcas L. (Stitely) Taylor entered into rest after a brief illness on Sunday, September 21, 2014, at her residence at the age of 81. She was the wife of the late Donald L. Taylor, who entered into rest on Nov. 20, 2005. Dorcas was born in Red Lion on July 1, 1933, and was the daughter of the late Ralph Clay and Urcelia Elvira (Miller) Stitely. Dorcas retired from York Hospital where she worked as a Registered Nurse. She was a member of Bethlehem Stonepile United Methodist Church in Red Lion. Surviving are son, Clay W. Taylor and his wife Dana of Windsor; three daughters, Joyce A. Peters and her husband David of York, Tina T. Shirey and her husband John of Beaver Springs, and Abby T. Spence and her husband Bo of Felton; seven grandchildren, Kirk Taylor, Fawn Taylor, Megan Gott, Erin Peters, Molly Shirey, Samuel Shirey, and Emma Shirey; 10 great-grandchildren; three brothers, R. Dean Stitely of York, Ralph C. Stitely, Jr. of Red Lion, Paul Y. Stitely of Crossroads; a sister, Leona Miller of Crossroads; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Donald L. Stitely. There will be a viewing Friday, Sept. 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion, and Saturday, Sept. 27 from 9 to 10 a.m. at Bethlehem Stonepile United Methodist Church, 250 Bethlehem Church Road, Red Lion. A Service of Honor and Praise for Dorcas will begin on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the church. The Rev. Thomas R. Osenbach, pastor of Bethlehem Stonepile-Springvale United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Blymire's UCC Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be offered to Society of St. Andrew, 3383 Sweet Hollow Road, Big Island, VA 24526. Dorcas enjoyed reading, knitting, and baking.
