Obituary

D. "Scootie" Halfpap-Edmonds, of Red Lion – formerly of Shady Side, MD - entered into rest at her home surrounded by her loving family during the evening of Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at the age of 69. She was the daughter of the late John E. and the late Helen M. (McCormick) Sweeney and the wife of Russell L. Edmonds whom she married on December 30, 1988.

Scootie graduated from Southern High School and was a bookkeeper until becoming the proud owner/proprietor of Pearl's Pantry, a locally owned and operated baking company in Red Lion. She served as President of the Cedarhurst Community Association and was an effective leader during her tenure. Besides baking and being a wonderful chef, Scootie loved spending time with her family and friends. She was known for her generosity, including making gift baskets for just about anyone for any reason to thank them and show her appreciation for their time, friendship or simply as a kind gesture. She was formed in the Catholic faith at Holy Family Catholic Church in Prince George's County, MD, which always held a special place in her heart.

Besides her loving husband, Russ, Scootie leaves her sons, Eric J. Halfpap and wife, Paige of York and Joseph B. Halfpap and wife, Tiffany of Monkton, MD. She also leaves her stepson, Jason D. Edmonds and wife, Ramona of Monument, CO. She will be missed by her grandchildren: Charlton E. Halfpap of Minnesota, Aiden T. Halfpap, Tyler A. Halfpap, and Grayson A. Halfpap, all of York, Benjamin J. Halfpap and Ethan J. Halfpap, both of Monkton, MD, and Anthony J. Edmonds of Monument, CO. She leaves her four sisters and three brothers as well as her aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. The family also extends a special thanks to Scootie's caregivers, Kerry, Faith and Snow.

A service for Scootie will take place on Sunday, April 21, 2024 from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Cedarhurst on the Bay (Community Center), 5187 Chesapeake Avenue, Shady Side, MD 20764.
