Dwight "Pap" E. Smith, of Dallastown, entered into rest on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at 5:25 pm, from Wellspan York Hospital, at the age of 72. He was the longtime companion of the late Bonnie J. "Buckets" (Reichard) Mummert, who passed away on November 22, 2014. He was born in York on August 14, 1950, and was the son of the late James Harvey and Rosa Lee (Penley) Smith. Dwight was a self-employed roofer for many years, as the owner of DE Smith Roofing. He enjoyed fishing, Nascar racing, and family cookouts. He had a tough shell, but in reality, he was a very kind man with a big, caring heart. Dwight has four children, a stepson, Lonny E. Reichard and his wife Connie of Mifflintown, PA., Melisa Sangrey, and Dwight E. Smith, Jr., and Nicole Smith. He was the loving grandfather to: Adam and Ashley Reichard, Craig, Brandy, Douglas and Matthew, and great grandfather to: Aiden and Natile. Dwight was the brother to Blanch Wynegar of Dallastown and Patricia Halloran of GA. He also leaves numerous nieces and nephews. Dwight was preceded in death by his six brothers and one sister. Viewing will be on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, from 10-11 am at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. A Service of Honor and Praise for Dwight will begin at 11 am at the funeral home with Rev. David Mackenzie, from Bridgeway Community Church officiating.
