Obituary

FELTON Edison G. "Gladdy" Gladfelter, 84, entered into rest at 7:20 a.m. Monday, March 12, 2012, at Pleasant Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of Sara E. (Green) Gladfelter whom he married March 13, 1948. He was born in Felton, on June 28, 1927, and was the son of the late Ervin S. and Helen M. (Keesey) Gladfelter. He was a painter working for Flinchbaugh's General Defense and Red Lion Cabinet Factory over the years. He proudly served his country in the Army during WWII. Mr. Gladfelter was a life-time member of Bethany U.M. Church in Felton, where he taught Sunday School and held various offices. He was also a member of Felton Fire Co. and past manager of the Felton baseball team. In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by one daughter, Beth A. Swartz of Felton and her husband, Dean; two grandchildren, Deanna Coble of Red Lion and her husband, Steve, and Jenna Swartz of Felton; two great-grandchildren, Ryne and Dax; one stepgranddaughter, Denise Edeblute and her husband, Larry; three step great-grandchildren, Hope, Brittany, and Larry; two sisters, Madaline Warner of Felton and her husband, James, and Pauline Yohe; a sister-in-law, Janet Gladfelter; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Freman Gladfelter; and a brother-in-law, Clarence Yohe Viewings will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9 to 10 a.m. at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion The service will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with his pastor, Christine C. Freeman, officiating. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with full military detail provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be offered to Bethany U.M. Church Felton, 49 High St., Felton, PA 17322; or to American Diabetes Association , 3544 N. Progress Ave., Harrisburg, PA 17110.
