Edith L. (Strait) Massicot, age 83, of Red Lion, passed away peacefully at Rest Haven York on Thursday, August 27, 2026. Born in Wellsboro on June 27, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Virgil Strait and the late Lillian E. Root. She was the loving wife of Lawrence W. “Larry” Massicot, who preceded her in death on February 15 of this year.

A devoted homemaker, Edith attended St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in New Freedom. She was a longtime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling with Larry and cherished the many memories they created together.

Edith is survived by her daughters, Denise R. Gable and Virginia L. Massicot; her stepdaughter, Shawn R. Massicot Leagan, and her husband, Brian; her grandsons, Jeff Amspacher and his wife, Hope, Christian Massicot, Cameron Leagan, and Reilly Leagan; her granddaughters, Rachel Leagan and Brianna Leagan; her great-grandchildren, Joshua, Matthew, Lillian, and Kailey; her brother, Edward Strait; and her sister, Pearl Jackson. She was preceded in death by her beloved great-grandson, Zachary Kirchner; her sister, Elizabeth Kuhns; and her brother, Earl Mellott.

A celebration of Edith’s life will be held on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Wagner-Elfner and Burg Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 3070 Cape Horn Road, Red Lion. A viewing will be held from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., with the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Gary Smith will officiate. Private interment in West Branch Cemetery in Wellsboro will be held at the convenience of the family.
