Elaine L. "Nanny" (Gohn) Olphin, age 88, of York, formerly of Craley and the Autumn House Assisted Living East, died on Friday, June 25, 2021, at Manor Care Health Services – Kingston Court. Born in Craley on June 6, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth W. Gohn and Mary (Romaine) (Kupp) Gohn. She worked in various housekeeping positions – both homes and offices, and a cigar factory before going to Pleasant Acres Nursing and Rehab Center in the Laundry Department from 1974 to 1998- retiring after 24 years. After retirement, she continued her friendships with her co-workers by enjoying a monthly breakfast at Stoneybrook Family Restaurant- sharing good food, conversation and laughs to brighten their day. She was a member of the Susquehanna Senior Center. She especially enjoyed being with people. Her special laugh brought them happy times and smiles, especially when she won "Bingo". Elaine attended Water's Edge United Methodist Church in Craley. She loved to sing and be a part of her church family. Watching TV was one of her favorite past times, especially the Gaither Gospel group, the many cooking shows, and Wheel of Fortune. Elaine especially looked forward to family gatherings, arriving early and wearing her apron, ready to eat and have fun. She loved her family. Her survivors include a son, Gary G. Olphin and his wife, Sharon, a grandson, Gary G. Olphin, Jr., and two great grandsons, Kingston and Karson Olphin, all of Wrightsville. She is survived by a brother, Wayne M. Gohn and wife Rosie of Wrightsvile and two sisters, Fayne H. Stermer of Wrightsville and Laraine K. Howard and husband, Charles, of York. Surviving also is a nephew, Eric W. Gohn and his children, Kaci and Evan Gohn of Yo9rk. She was predeceased by a nephew, Randy W. Stermer, in 2019. Viewing will be on Thursday, July 1st, from 10-11 am at Water's Edge United Methodist Church, 469 Abels Road, Wrightsville, PA. A Service of Honor and Praise for Elaine will begin at 11 am at the church with her pastor, Terry L. Robinson, officiating. Burial will follow the service at Craley Cemetery (St. Paul's United Methodist Church). The family would like to thank the staff at the Autumn House-East and Manor Care-Kingston Court for their compassion and care of Elaine and helping to make her life comfortable and enjoyable.
