Ellen M. (Herbst) Wierman, of Red Lion, left her earthly life to begin her eternal life with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 2, 2023, at 7:45 am from Promedica Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation-Kingston, at the age of 89. She was the wife of the late Wayne L. Wierman who entered into rest on August 8, 1996. Ellen was born in York, on December 28, 1933, and was the daughter of the late Emory and Margie M. (Ziegler) Herbst. She was primarily a homemaker but did work outside of the home at the former Flinchbaugh Products, Prett's Store, Godfrey's Meats and Red Lion Cafeteria. She attended Bethlehem Stonepile United Methodist Church in Red Lion and was a member of the American Legion Post #543, Ladies Auxiliary in Red Lion since 1968 and the Lancaster Sportsman Association. She loved animals and had many throughout her life, dancing and country music and going to her cabin in Biglerville. But most of all, spending time with her family. She leaves a son, Ricky W. Wierman and his wife Beth of Red Lion and a daughter, Tammy M. Wierman of Red Lion. She was the grandmother of Sierra Tenney of Red Lion and the sister of Junior Herbst of Red Lion. Ellen also has numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda D. Wierman on August 10, 2015, Tammy's companion, Walter Tenney, Jr., in 2021, and her seven siblings. All services for Ellen will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will take place at Bethlehem Stonepile Cemetery. Rev. David D. Tietje, pastor of St. John's United Church of Christ in Red Lion will be officiating. Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion will be assisting the family with the arrangements.
