Elwood S. Detwiler of Wrightsville entered into rest on Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at 10:15 a.m. at the York Hospital at the age of 92.
He was the husband of Betty (Wallace) Detwiler, his wife of 63 years.
Elwood was born in Windsor, Long Level area on February 16, 2010 and was the son of the late Roger and Edith (Leiphart) Detwiler.
He was a self-employed farmer and also worked for Wilton Armetale. He was a lifetime member of Ebenezer U.M. Church and then later attended East Side Bible Church. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed following the stock market and caring for his family. He also was an New York Yankees fan.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2 daughters, Anita Herman of York and husband, George, and Susan Sheaffer of Carlisle and husband Michael; 5 grandchildren, Joshua Herman and wife Athena, Christopher Herman, Sarah, Sheaffer, Katie Sheaffer and Drew Sheaffer; and one great granddaughter, Amalea Rose Herman.
There will be a viewing from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, June 5, 2010 at East Side Bible Church,
1035 Adams Rd. Wrightsville. Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion is handling the arrangements. The service will follow at 11a.m.Saturday at the church.
His minister, Pastor Randy W. Panabaker will officiate.
Burial will be at East Prospect (Riverview) Cemetery.
