Obituary

Estella R. (Harrison) Smeltzer, of Felton, took the hand of her Lord and Savior, when she heard Him call, at 1:55 am on Friday, October 2, 2020, at her residence, and followed the path he laid for her. She met up with her dear husband, Sterling L. Smeltzer, whom departed this earthly life on August 3, 1998. She was born in York, on January 13, 1926, and was the daughter of the late Walter W. and Iva (Miller) Harrison. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting, and spending quality time with her family, which was her greatest joy. Estella was also a member of the New Bridgeville Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and a former member of the Brogue Ambulance Auxiliary. She attended the Chanceford Alliance Church in Felton when she was able to do so for many years. Prior to the passing of her husband, they also enjoyed camping and traveling. Estella leaves her two daughters, Betty R. Whiteford of Felton and Jane E. Neff and her husband Keith of Red Lion to cherish her memory. She was the loving grandmother to Robert and his wife Kristen Whiteford, Jr. of Red Lion, Karen Chilton and husband Dan of Raleigh, NC and Julie Neff of Telford, PA and great grandmother of seven great grandchildren. She was one of eight children, leaving her sister, Florence Altland of Dallastown, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her six siblings, Anna Shaw, Myrtle Gipe, John, Gene, William and Harvey Harrison. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, October 7th from 10-11 am at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. A Service of Honor and Praise for Estella will begin at 11 am at the funeral home with her pastor, Rev. Edward Wible, officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel UM Cemetery. As per our Governor, masks and social distancing will be observed along with the crowd limit for inside gatherings, of 25 persons.
