Freida Earlene (Anderson) Smith left this mortal world and began strolling in heaven with her Lord Jesus on Monday, December 14, 2020, from Manor Care Dallastown at the age of 101. All her troubles and heartaches are vanished away! Freida was the wife of the late James L. Smith who entered into rest on March 17, 1994.
She was born in Felton on September 19, 1919 and was the daughter of the late Wilson W. and Elma (Bell) Anderson. She worked on the family farm and later supported her and Jim's farm throughout her marriage. She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church in Felton where she enjoyed singing and attending church services and church picnics. Freida was a very friendly neighbor who loved to cook and bake and share her goodies with her neighbors. She adored animals, from the pet ducks of her youth and all the critters that visited her yard, to her beloved cat, Tommy, and every other little creature she met.
Freida has many nieces and nephews, along with great nieces and nephews. Her nephew, Donald Anderson of Red Lion, great niece, Deb Gladwin and husband George of Red Lion, beloved friends and neighbor, Meryl and Cindy Sweitzer and their family, and good friend, Sally Cook Zeller and her family of York, were very close to Freida and helped with her care over the years. She was preceded in death by her three sisters and two brothers.
Viewing will be on Tuesday, December 22nd, from 6-7 pm at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. A Service of Honor and Praise for Freida will begin at 7 pm at the funeral home, with her friend, Devin Sweitzer officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family at Round Hill Presbyterian Cemetery.
