Obituary

Gary E. Shearer, of York, died peacefully in his sleep on Friday, August 23, 2024, at the age of 70. He was the beloved husband of Sharon K. (Snyder) Shearer whom he married on April 22, 1978. Gary was born on April 19, 1954 and was the son of the late William Fred and Joy Elaine (Shearer) Shearer. A graduate of Dallastown Area High School, he worked as a salesman for Finishing Systems for over 40 years. Gary and Sharon cherished their time at Sunset Beach, North Carolina, a very special and favorite place for Gary to visit. He had a passion for fishing, enjoyed playing baseball in his younger years, and spent many days at Wisehaven Pool, where he and Sharon became members several years ago. Gary was an avid New York Yankees Fan. He was a member of Salem Christian Church in Jacobus. In addition to his wife, Gary is survived by his daughter, Ashley N. Arndt, and her husband, Michael, of Downingtown. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Jackson D. Arndt, Luke M. Arndt, and Reagan E. Arndt, all of Downingtown. He also leaves behind his brother, Michael Shearer, and wife, Gilda, of York; his mother-in-law, Betty J. Snyder, of Dallastown; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Gary is now reunited with his brother, Randy L. Shearer, who passed away on April 2, 2024. Services and burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Wagner-Elfner and Burg Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion, is assisting the family with arrangements.
