Gerald George Posey, of York, accepted the hand of his Lord and Savior when he heard him call, on October 23, 2022, from his residence in Red Lion at the age of 83. He was the son of the late William Macajah and Edna Alice (Pomraning) Posey.
He was born in Woodbine, PA on January 8, 1939. George graduated from the former Chanceford High School, Class of 1957. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving from 1957 to 1963. He worked for 32 years with the former GTE, prior to retiring. He enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the VFW, Hawks Gunning Club, and the American Legion.
George leaves his siblings, Dale Posey of Collinsville, Betty Hanson and her husband Harold of Aberdeen, MD, Wilbur V. Posey of Brogue and Eva Schwartzbaugh of Red Lion, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his eleven siblings.
A Graveside Service of Honor and Praise for George will be on Friday, October 28th, at 10 am at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion will be assisting the family with the arrangements. A flag folding ceremony will be offered by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. All friends and family planning to attend the service, are asked to meet at the front entrance to the cemetery around 9:45 am to process to the Mausoleum Crypt. Prayers will be offered by the family with a time to share special memories.
