IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gerard J.
Dieter
October 16, 1938 – September 19, 2025
Gerard J. Dieter, age 86, of West York, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 19, 2025. Born in Baltimore on October 16, 1938, he was the son of the late Nicholas Walter Dieter and the late Josephine Marie (Troch) Dieter. Jerry, as he was lovingly known by family and friends, was the devoted husband and best friend of Glenna C. (Rodgers) Dieter. They were married on October 15, 1960, and spent 65 wonderful years side by side, sharing a deep bond of love, faith, and friendship. Jerry proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force, an experience that shaped much of who he was. After his service, he worked for many years as a route salesman for Anheuser-Busch, where he was known for his reliability, warmth, and easygoing nature. A man of strong faith, Jerry was a longtime member of Redemption International Ministries. He served as a Deacon in the Assembly of God Church and, thanks to his lifelong love of music, found great joy singing in the church choir. Jerry's interests were wide-ranging—he enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, golfing with friends, and watching Orioles baseball. He was also a fan of the Baltimore Colts back in the day. His fascination with lighthouses, sparked during his time stationed in Maine with the Air Force, remained close to his heart throughout his life. Above all else, Jerry was a family man. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. His gentle spirit, steady presence, and warm heart touched everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. In addition to his beloved wife Glenna, Jerry is survived by his sons, Mark A. Dieter and his wife Jennifer, and David A. Dieter and his wife Patricia; and by his brother, John Dieter. He was the proud grandfather of Jessica, Breanna, Ryan, Ian, Hannah, and Alex, and great-grandfather to Chance, Luke, Cambria, Madelyn, Leah, Wyatt, Riley, Ethan, Sophia, Callum, and Lane. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren held a very special place in his heart, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He was preceded in death by his sister, Geraldine Croghan, and his brother, Nicholas Walter Dieter Jr. A celebration of Jerry's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Wagner-Elfner and Burg Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion, with Pastor Danny Haas officiating. Interment will be private at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. A viewing will take place at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.
