Gloria J. (Tate) Haines, of York, was called home on Monday, September 16, 2024 at the age of 93.

Gloria was born in York on March 14, 1931 and was the daughter of the late Sterling L. and Caroline (Goodling) Tate. Gloria worked at various local businesses in York County throughout her life, retiring from Johnson Controls where she worked in customer service. She loved reading, putting together puzzles, and was an animal lover.

She leaves her son, Bradley R. Haines of York, her grandsons, Darren T. Haines and wife, Seliha of Bermuda, Austin B. Haines and Connor L. Haines, both of Kemah, Texas, her great-grandson, Aydin Haines of Bermuda, as well as her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia Gilbert and her brother, Sterling Tate, She will be missed by her feline companion, Gizmo, affectionately known as "Gizzy".

A graveside service to honor Gloria's life will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at 1:00 pm. Please line up at the Pennsylvania Avenue entrance at 12:45 pm if you wish to attend the service. Wagner-Elfner and Burg Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion, is assisting the family with arrangements.
