Harry A. Wagaman, Sr., 85, of Wrightsville, accepted the hand of his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at 9:15 am from his son's residence, (with family by his side), with whom he resided, after leaving his home on Front St. in Wrightsville, after more than 50 years living there with his late wife, Nancy J. (Frey) Wagaman, who entered her heavenly home on November 15, 2017.
Harry was born in York on January 27, 1937. He was the son of the late Harry Radford and Catherine Lucille (Lowe) Wagaman. At the age of 16, he went into the Army, serving three years, followed by five more years of Reserve Duty. He worked as a truck driver for various places for many years, but his last employment was with York Transfer. He was a member of the Central Pennsylvania Teamsters Union of Reading, PA., the American Legion Post 543 of Red Lion, and a longtime and very active member of the Stillmeadow Church of the Nazarene since the age of nine. He and his late wife were very active with the mission work of the church, whether it was traveling to help build churches or packing clothing to send overseas to those in need. Harry started to ride Harley Davidson motorcycles in 1953 and it is something that he shared the love for over the years with his family members.
He is survived by his son, Harry A. Wagaman, Jr. and his wife Teresa of Wrightsville, a daughter, Charlotte R. Edwards, and her husband Jim of Enoree, SC. He was the loving grandfather of nine grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. Harry was one of five children, leaving his brother, Daniel Wagaman of Coco Beach, FL, and three sisters, Judith Miller of Lexington, KY, Cyrena Kohr of York, and Melody McCarty of York, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his grand dog, Riley who was his constant companion and always by his side. Harry was preceded in death by a great grandson, Aedyn Stephens.
A viewing will be on Tuesday, December 13th, from 6-7 pm at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. A Service of Honor and Praise for Harry will begin at 7 pm at the funeral home with full military rites being presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Burial will private and take place at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens at the convenience of the family.
Harry loved his family and always looked forward to spending time with each of them, whether it was having a meal or just out enjoying the day on the Harley's. He had a saying that will always be remembered, "I'm going someplace I've never been before, and when you get there, look me up!" He also said, "I'm going to live till I die", and that's exactly what he did. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
