Hilda M. (Gipe) Long entered into rest on Mon., Feb. 10, 2014, at 6:10 p.m. at York Hospital after a brief illness at the age of 89. She was born in Chanceford Twp. on January 21, 1925, and was the daughter of the late Clayton and Eva (Runkle) Gipe. Hilda worked as a Bank Teller at the former Southern Pennsylvania National Bank, retiring in 1989 after many years of service. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Brogue, a graduate of the Red Lion High School Class of 1942, and a member of the Red Lion Ambulance Ladies Auxilary. Surviving are a son, David K. Long of Windsor; a half-brother, Harold Gipe of Boca Raton, Fla.; and her Best Friend, Diane Anderson and husband Ross of York. Viewing will be held Friday from 2 to 3 p.m. at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. A Service of Honor and Praise for Hilda will begin at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Her pastor, the Rev. Joshua T. Beben will officiate. Burial will be at Bethel UM Church Cemetery at the convenience of the family. On Tuesday mornings, she enjoyed breakfast at Lion's Pride and then Friday mornings, breakfast was at Cape Horn Family Restaurant with friends. She was an honest and righteous person who was always willing to help others. Hilda was David's inspiration and "The BESTEST MOM He Ever Had!!" There will always be a special place within David's heart for his Mother. She would end all of her conversations saying "I Love You."
