Howard "Hop" H. McKinsey, Sr., of York, entered into rest on Thursday, February 16, 2023, from his residence, at 10:44 pm at the age of 69. He was the husband of Linda L. (Winters) McKinsey of York to whom he married on June 10, 1972. He was born in York on October 5, 1953, and was the son of the late Mervin L. and Ruth H. (Harrison) McKinsey. Hop was an assembler at Harley Davidson York for 18 years, retiring in 2009, prior to that, he worked for 18 years at the former Cole Steel in York. He was a member of the 12th Ward, BD Social Club, and life member of the Rooster Club and the 13th Ward. Hop loved to socialize, spending time working on his cars and spending time with his family and his dog. Besides his wife Linda, Hop leaves his son, Howard "Hop" H. McKinsey, Jr. of Spring Grove and his companion Diane Hall, and his granddaughter, Corissa McKinsey of Dover, and his loving companion, his mixed Pitbull, Trooper, who missed him greatly. He was one of eight children, leaving his siblings, George McKinsey and Audrey of Dover, Roger "Dick" McKinsey of Stewartstown and Rosalie Messersmith and Barry of York, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his four siblings, Leroy McKinsey, Mervin McKinsey, Jr., Dale "Pete" McKinsey, and Sammy McKinsey. Viewings for Hop will be on Friday, February 24th, from 6-8 pm and Saturday, Feb. 25th, from 10-11 am at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. A Service of Honor and Praise for Hop will begin at 11 am on Sat., at the funeral home, with Chaplain Mary Kay Alpaugh, officiating. Burial will take place at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.
