Obituary

Irvin J. Shiflett, of Brogue, entered into rest on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at 9:58 pm at his residence, surrounded by his family, at the age of 79. He was the husband of Poulett J. (Harman) Shiflett of Brogue, to whom he married on June 20, 1964, celebrating 56 years together. He was born on October 31, 1941 in Albemarle County, Virginia and was the son of the late Elizabeth (Garrison) Keyton. Irv was the Vice President of Domestic Travel for the AAA Central Penn Auto Club, retiring after 42 years of service. He was an active member of the Red Lion Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses being baptized in 1957 and serving as an elder since 1972. In addition to the ministry, he loved to putter around his well-kept home and play guitar with friends. His kind and peaceful personality was a positive influence. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Besides his wife Poulett, he leaves to cherish his memory a son, Jeffery B. Shiflett and his wife Judy of Red Lion, and two daughters, Joy L. Hurst and her husband Allen of Elizabethtown and Jennifer E. Stambaugh and her husband Benrus III of York. He was the loving grandfather to Conner, Benrus IV and Kelsey. He has a brother, Thomas Shiflett of Baltimore MD, along with nieces and nephews. Cremation will take place with Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. A memorial service will be scheduled at the family's convenience. Burial will take place at Windsor Cemetery at a later time.
