James "Jim" A. Goodermuth, 74, entered into rest after a brief illness on Sunday, June 2, 2013, at his residence surrounded by his family at 6:05 p.m. He was the husband of Nancy A. (Godfrey) Goodermuth. They were married on July 10, 1959. Born in York, on June 1, 1939, he was the son of Gladys (Shockney) Goodermuth of York and the late James E. Goodermuth. He was a cement finisher at the Local 592 Cement Masons retiring in 2001 after 44 years of service. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by one son, Richard J. Goodermuth and wife, Ellen of Dover; two daughters, Lisa J. Zortman and husband, Jay and Robin L. Bennett and husband, William, all of Red Lion; eight grandchildren, Nicole, Michelle, Alyssa, Lauren, Chelsea, Kailyn, Carly and Ryan; two great-grandchildren, Amiyah and Holden; three sisters, Helen Pollins of Manchester, Marie Goodermuth of York and Donna Hoskins of Etters; and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be a viewing from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. The service will follow at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Fred C. Nowell, of York Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Jim was a wonderful husband to Nancy for 54 years, and a great father and grandfather. He enjoyed searching with his metal detector, playing poker, hunting, fishing and softball.
