IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Salley,
Jr.
October 15, 1934 – October 10, 2025
Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. (One of dad's favorite Scriptures)
James Salley, Jr., was born October 15, 1934 in Baltimore City, MD, to the late James and Lousie Salley. James was the fourth child born to this union. Jim, as he was affectionally called, departed this life on October 10, 2025.
"Jim," received his education in the Baltimore City School District. It was there that he met the Love of His Life, Jean Dowridge. She was Fifteen years old; and for the next Seventy years they lived happily ever after. They were joined in Holy Matrimony and Dad asked mom "What do you want most?" She said, A House. He did all he could to fulfil her dream. In fact, he gave her six homes, paying each one off before purchasing the next one. They were inseparable; when you saw dad, you saw mom.
Jim gave his heart to the Lord in 1973 at the Long Reach Church of God in Columbia, MD, under the leadership of Pastor Bob Davis. There he served as a deacon and member of the Board of Trust until they moved to Surprise, Arizona in 1999.
Jim was a good father and hard worker. He worked as a Taxi Cab Driver, Baltimore City Police and Policeman in Arizona for several years; but his greatest love was Truck Driving. He worked for Carolina Freight Carrier (Teamsters Union 557) for 30 plus years. Driving seemed to be in his blood.
After ten years in Arizona, Jim and Jean returned to the area, moving to Seven Valleys, Pennsylvania. They had a host of friends there; and were a part of Redemption International Ministries church family; where the current senior pastor is: Pastor Danny Hass.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, son: Christopher Salley, two sisters: Margerite and Sister, one brother: Alexander, son-in-law: Lawrence Hembry.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of 63 years: Jean Salley, one daughter: Jean Hembry, one son: David Salley (Vicki), one daughter-in-law: Debrayta Salley, two grandsons: Michael Hembry (Tiffany), and Jordan Salley, one great-grandson: Micah Hembry, one special cousin: George Stallings (Ella), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A celebration of Jim's life will be held at 11:00 A.M., on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Wagner-Elfner and Burg Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion, PA 17356. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Marriottsville, MD. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M.
Lovingly Submitted, The Family
