Obituary

James Austin “Jim” Trich, Sr., age 78, of York, PA, formerly of Belle Vernon, PA, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, August 12, 2026. Born in Charleroi, PA on April 19, 1948, he was the son of the late Fred Allen and Jennie Margaret (Corwin) Trich. Jim was the loving husband of 55 years of Mary Elizabeth (Burkhart) Trich; they were married on May 22, 1971.

Jim was a journeyman printer starting his career in 1967 in Western PA, then moving his family around to Woodbridge, VA, Fayetteville, GA, Swell, NJ and finally landing in York, PA at the York Newspaper Company. Following his retirement from the paper he was a van driver for School Express, Lincoln Bus Company and most recently Krise Transportation in the Spring Grove School District he also was a delivery driver for Good Day Pharmacy in Mechanicsburg, PA. He would often joke with his family about the abundance of deer he encountered while traveling his delivery routes. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church of York, PA.

He enjoyed hooking his camper to his Ford and heading to one of the many Pennsylvania state parks. He also enjoyed working on his cars, gardening, riding his tractor, motorcycles, routing for the Steelers and watching NASCAR. He was an avid coffee drinker and loved to drink strong black coffee morning, noon, and night—he ran on it. He especially treasured the simple pleasures of life and the time spent with those he loved. He was always willing to lend a hand to help others. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and for his goldendoodle, “Teddy.”

In addition to his wife, Mary Elizabeth, Jim is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Elizabeth Nevil and her husband, Bradley; his son, James Austin Trich, Jr. and his wife, Kayla; and his grandsons, Toby Ellis, Chance Ellis, and Austin Trich.
