Janet M. Anderson, 87, died on August 2, 2025, at her cottage at Normandie Ridge. She was the daughter of Margaret E. (Reinecke) and J. Kerr Anderson, late of Sunnyburn, PA. She was a graduate of the former Lower Chanceford High School and received her B.F.A. from the art school of Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY, in 1960. She began her career in book publishing at Prentice-Hall, Inc., as a book jacket designer and became associate art director in the Trade Books division.

In 1980, she was appointed Design and Production Manager for the University of Virginia Press, where, during a 32-year tenure, several of her books and book jackets won design awards. An avid book collector, she assembled collections of the works of eminent twentieth-century American book artists. Janet was a devoted volunteer and board member of the Friends of the Jefferson-Madison Regional Library in Charlottesville, VA, where she exhibited her watercolors and oil paintings in local galleries. She was a member of McKendree Faith Church and a life member of the Conservation Society of York County.

She is survived by a brother, Alan; sister-in-law, Kathy; and a niece and nephew, all of Ukiah, CA.

Funeral services will be at McKendree Faith Church, 3708 Delta Road, Airville, PA, on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at 10 a.m.
