John Millard Shriver, of Red Lion, entered into rest unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at the age of 65. He was the husband of Mary Jane (Galbraith) Shriver whom he married on September 17, 1992.
He was born in Baltimore on December 23, 1958, to the late John Luther and Corinne Fillmore (Livingston) Shriver. With great pride, he served his country as a member of the United States Army, joining the 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment. Throughout his military career, he completed an impressive 127 jumps before receiving an honorable discharge. In his free time, he enjoyed watching crime television shows like Dateline and had a deep passion for woodworking, with a particular focus on crafting birdhouses. John was a dedicated member of the Stewartstown American Legion Post 455.
Besides his loving wife, John leaves his daughter, Tina Marie Beck and husband, Joe of Maryland, sons, Thomas John Shriver and fiancé, Lorie McWaters of Shrewsbury, and Robert William Shriver of Maryland. He also leaves his two stepsons, Robert H. Kernan, Jr. of Florida and Eric S. Kernan of Stewartstown. He will be missed by his sister, Debra Lynn Sigai and husband, John of Maryland, and his grandchildren, Clyde "CJ" Shriver, Tyler Odom, Jackson Beck, Wesley Forrester, Rhiannon Kernan, Alyssa Kernan, Garrett Kernan, Nathan Kernan, and Wyatt Kernan.
Services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Wagner-Elfner and Burg Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion is assisting the family with arrangements.
