John M. Sparrow, of Manchester, entered into rest at Wellspan York Hospital on Monday, May 20, 2024 at the age of 66.

He was born in Baltimore on April 10, 1958 to the late Henry and Dorothy (Seidel) Sparrow. John graduated from Patterson High School and was a machinist with Pre-Mach, Inc. for 31 years. He loved his job and his coworkers. He was known for tinkering around at home with odds and ends and also loved getting lost in a good novel. Most importantly, John loved spending time with his dog, Precious, a senior pug.

John leaves his sister, Betty A. Thomas and husband, Frank Ruzek of Ocean City, Maryland, his nephew, Michael A. Thomas and wife, Hope of Ocean City, Maryland, and his niece, Missie A. Thomas of South Carolina. He will be missed by his grand-nieces, Samantha Buxenstein of Baltimore who spent time with him at the hospital prior to his passing and Trista Thomas of Baltimore, as well as his grand-nephews, Ryan Buxenstein and wife, Ashley of Baltimore and Rhett Buxenstein of South Carolina. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Sparrow.

Services and burial are private and at the convenience of the family in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Wagner-Elfner and Burg Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion is assisting the family with arrangements.
