Joseph Persing, age 93, of Brogue, died peacefully on Thursday, February 13, 2025. He was born in York on June 1, 1931. He was the loving husband of the late Jean L. (Howard) Persing, who preceded him in death on November 5, 2015.
Joseph was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War. Following his time in the service, he was the founder and president of Mastercraft Specialties in Red Lion. He started in the basement of his home, eventually moving to the former York County Chair Co. building in 1976. He never went anywhere without his trusty tape measure. He was a member of St Luke Lutheran Church, where he was active in church Sunday School as superintendent and teacher. He also served on church council for many years and served the Central PA Synod. Above all, he was devoted to his family and will be remembered for his care and concern for all.
He is survived by his sons Joel H. Persing, Jonathan L. Persing, and Jay B. Persing, his daughters Jennifer Persing Snyder, Jill Persing McKinley, Judy Persing Gue, and Joan Persing Mackley, his 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service to celebrate Joseph's life will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 2666 Furnace Road, Felton, with Rev. Dr. William Cluley officiating. Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery with Military Honors accorded by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. There will be a viewing at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:00am.
