Joyce Y. Shelly, formerly of Craley, went to her eternal home from Yorkview Nursing and Rehabilitation on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at the age of 87.

She was born in Craley on January 20, 1936 to the late Clair A. and Elsie E. (Bacon) Shelly. Joyce committed her life to her family, leaving school after 11th grade to help raise her siblings and later took care of her aging parents. A familiar face at the Country Table Restaurant in Mount Joy, Joyce cherished the time she spent dining alone. She was a beacon to those around her as she simultaneously worked at several local sewing factories while selflessly taking care of her family, retiring from Zero Restrictions in Red Lion at the age of 72. In her spare time, she enjoyed watching Dancing with the Stars and listening to bluegrass and country music. Joyce especially loved the comforts of home and spending time with her nephew, Lon, with whom she was particularly close.

Joyce leaves her sister, Jane Ann Frey and her two brothers, James Shelly and John Shelly, all of York. She leaves her nephews, Lon Shelly and wife, Deb of Wrightsville, Randy Frey and husband, Terry of York, Anthony "AJ" Shelly of Florida, and James Shelly and wife, Beth of Florida. She also leaves her nieces, Shanda Morton and husband, Richard of Wrightsville, Kimberly Krall and husband, Randy of Arizona, Gail Luckenbaugh and husband, Scott of York, Deborah Reynolds of Hallam and Kathy Sanders of Missouri. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Gary Shelly and Galen Shelly as well as her infant twin sister, Ellen Marie Shelly.

A viewing for Joyce will take place on Friday, December 15, 2023 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Wagner-Elfner and Burg Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. A funeral service will begin at 12:00 pm with Rev. David D. Tietje, pastor of St. John's United Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will follow in Craley Cemetery.
