Obituary

Kathleen (Hunt) Gregory, of Red Lion, went home to her Lord and Savior, unexpectedly, on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at 9:43 am at her residence at the age of 72. She was born in Lumberton, North Carolina on December 13, 1946 and was the daughter of the late William R. Hunt and Clara Ellen (Emanuel) Hammonds. She worked for Verizon Telephone Company for many years as a dispatcher prior to her retirement and continued working with them after her retirement. Kathleen was a very independent woman, who enjoyed playing cards with the girls, gardening, bowling, and traveling. She loved to see her son Tim play drums with his band, as well as watching her grandsons participate in the marching band and play sports. Her biggest goal was to be able to return home after she suffered a stroke to re-gain her independence, which she did shortly before her passing and this gave her great hope. Kathleen was the mother of Timothy Gregory and his wife Dana of Felton, and the loving grandmother of Elijah Gregory and Joshua Gregory, both of Felton. She also leaves a sister, Ruth Podles of Harford County, MD, two brothers, Bob Hunt of Wildwood, FL and Ricky R. Hammonds of Houma, LA., numerous nieces and nephews, and her precious dog, Cookie. Kathleen's wishes were to be cremated, with no viewing. Family and friends are invited to extend their condolences and share special memories with her son and family on Friday, May 3, 2019, from 1-2 pm at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. A Memorial Service to Honor and Praise Kathleen's life will begin at 2 pm at the funeral home. Kathleen was a wonderful mother and grandmother, who will be greatly missed by her loving family and many friends. While recovering in the hospital, some of her most uplifting moments were watching her eldest grandson, Eli, perform for the Pope in the Rome New Year's Day parade via live stream, as well as frequent visits from her youngest grandson, Josh. She never missed an opportunity to support her grandsons and share in their accomplishments. They were her pride and joy and she had a huge impact on developing them into the young men they are today. Don't cry for me, now I have died, for I'm still here, I'm by your side. My body's gone, but my soul is here. Please don't shed another tear. I am still here, I'm all around, only my body lies in the ground. I am the snowflake that kisses your nose, I am the frost, that nips your toes. I am the sun, bringing you light, I am the star, shining so bright. I am the rain, refreshing the earth, I am the laughter, I am the mirth. I am the bird, up in the sky, I am the cloud, that's drifting by. I am the thoughts, inside your head, While I'm still there, I can't be dead. I'll be here watching over you and waiting with open arms, on that day when we meet again. Kathleen was a volunteer with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and in lieu of flowers, would ask that contributions in her memory be offered to them at https://america.wish.org/.
