Kay Ann (Markel) Fuller, of Dallastown, took the hand of her Lord and Savior on Monday, December 21, 2020, when he called her name to escort her to his Heavenly Kingdom at 1:23 pm at WellSpan York Hospital at the age of 72. She was the loving wife of Ray F. Fuller, Jr. of Dallastown, celebrating many wonderful years together.
She was born on March 22, 1948 and is the daughter of Helen R. (Mundis) Markel and the late Ernest Edward Markel. Kay graduated from Red Lion Senior High School, Class of 1966. She then received a bachelor's degree from Millersville University in 1970, followed by a master's degree in 1973 from the same university. Kay taught second grade at both Lower Chanceford and Clearview Elementary Schools in the Red Lion Area School District for 35 years, prior to her retirement in 2005. She is remembered as an excellent teacher, with her students keeping in touch with her years after, sometimes with invites to weddings, or special events and would often share photos of newborns and exciting milestones in their adult lives. Kay was a member of the Who's Who Among America's Teachers in 1996, 2000, 2004, 2005, RLAEA, PSEA, NEA, AARP, WELCA Secretary, PTO 1970-2005 and PSAR. Kay enjoyed traveling, camping, and working with young people. She was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church of Freysville since 1950 where she was active in the Open Circle Class and was the adult Sunday School teacher in 1970.
Besides her mother, Helen, she leaves a God daughter, Sandy Enfield and her husband Steve of Red Lion and a granddaughter, Lauren Enfield also of Red Lion. She has two sisters, Linda Eberly and her husband Michael of York, and Judy Sherman of Red Lion. She also has a nephew, Steve Eberly and his wife Dana of Dallastown, and a great nephew Evan.
All services for Kay and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Her pastor, Paul N. Frank will officiate. Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion, is assisting the family with the arrangements. Those attending the private service must wear a mask and observe the social distancing guidelines.
