Lance L. Ritz, of Hallam, passed from this life to begin his eternal life with his daughter by his side at Wellspan York Hospital on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 8:12 am at the age of 79. He was the husband of Donna K. (Shelley) Ritz of Hallam to whom he celebrated 55 wonderful years of marriage.
Lance was born on August 6, 1942 and was the son of the late Floyd S. and Irene M. (Crumling) Ritz. As a young man, Lance was active in the Boy Scouts where he earned the highest honor, "The Eagle Scout Award". He graduated from York High School Class of 1960 and immediately went into the United States Army, serving in the 82nd Airborne. After the military, he worked for Fed Ex as a driver and was also a manager for the company, retiring in 1988 after many years of service. Lance loved baseball and played with the East Prospect Pistons Susquehanna League. He enjoyed cooking, fishing, golfing, and spending time with his family. His mother-in-law, Edna Shelley, lived with he and Donna for many years and the two of them became very close companions. She enjoyed the car shows (Hot Rods) with him, along with many other ventures they did together as a family. Edna and Lance had a very deep, caring, and loving bond over the years as he and Donna took care of her needs.
Lance and Donna have three children, Rhonda L. Smeltzer and her husband, Douglas, of Hallam, Renee L. Fake and her companion, Colin Bucchioni, of Spring Grove and Scott Wile and his wife, Kathy, of Mountville. He was the grandfather to Jaclyn, Jordan, Mikey (Heather), Jandan (Brooks), Kobe and Ryder and the great grandfather of Estee, Owen, Cruz, Everett, Clover and the newest edition to the family, Dean, expected to arrive in March. He also leaves his son-in-law, Dough Kirsch of Yorkana, his hand raised parrot, Petey and his Shihtzu Barney.
Cremation will take place with Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. All services and burial will be private and at the convenience to the family.
