Lena A. (Pomraning) Waltemyer, formerly of Felton, accepted the hand of her Lord and Savior when he extended it on Monday, November 1, 2021 at 5:27 PM at Misericordia Nursing Home in York at the age of 98. She was the wife of the late Samuel E. Waltemyer who went to his eternal home on July 18, 2006.
She was born in Delta on November 14, 1922 and was the daughter of the late Harvey T. and Edith Grace (Snyder) Pomraning. Lena went to Chanceford High School, graduating in the Class of 1941. She worked at the former Roanna Girl Sewing Factory in Hellam, retiring in 1983 after 30 years of service. She was a long time and very active member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church for 75 years where she taught Sunday School. Lena enjoyed quilting, crocheting, cooking, and gardening. She will always be remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved spending time with her family and always put them first.
She is survived by her daughter Linda G. Garner, of Red Lion, two grandsons, Bradley L. Garner and his companion, Angie Robinson, of Sommerville, KY and Troy L. Garner and his wife, Lisa, of York. She was the great grandmother of Lindsay Brown and her husband, Jason, and Caitlin Garner and her fiancé, Brandon Meek, Taylor Billett and Wyatt Garner and the great great grandmother to Landon Garner, Journey Minnich, Trace Burkins, Weston Garner, Colson Meek and Crimson Brown. She was also the loving aunt of numerous nieces and nephews. Lena was the last one of nine children. She was preceded by her siblings, Elizabeth Anderson, Edna Wright, Marian Shelley, Jesse Matson, Walter Pomraning, Willis Pomraning, Ralph Pomraning and Leonard Pomraning.
The family will be having a private service for Lena due to the recent precautions associated with Covid 19. The burial will take place at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens and will be private as well. Her great nephew, Rev. Terry Robinson will officiate for the family. Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion will be assisting with the arrangements.
