M. Marlene Snyder, age 91, of Dallastown, passed peacefully on Monday, June 22, 2026, at home with her daughter Barbara and granddaughter Anna by her side. Born in York on December 1, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Jessie and Clara Orendorff, who died in 1937, and was adopted by her aunt and uncle, the late Earl and Edna Forrey. She was the loving wife and best friend of the late Walter B. Snyder; he preceded her in death on February 10, 2023.
Marlene was a 1952 graduate of York Catholic High School. She was an officer for 26 years with York Bank and Trust Company until her retirement. She attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dallastown. She was an avid oil painter and a member of the York Art Association.
Marlene and Walter built a life filled with adventure, companionship, and treasured memories. Together, they enjoyed spending winters in Florida and traveling throughout the United States and across the globe, exploring destinations from Europe to Africa. Their shared love of the outdoors led them on many hiking and mountain-climbing adventures, including ascending the Grand Teton peak in 1972. Marlene was also an avid reader and passionate teacup collector. Above all else, she found her greatest happiness in her family. She treasured every opportunity to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, creating memories that will be cherished for generations.
Marlene is survived by her two daughters, including Barbara Strausbaugh and her husband, Tom, with whom she lived; her grandchildren, Jessica Hubbard and her husband, Adam, Andrew Strausbaugh and his wife, Misty, and Anna McClure; her great-grandchildren, Allison and Logan Hubbard; and her step-great-grandchildren, Collin and Jakob Hubbard. She is also survived by her sister, Frances Thomas and her husband, Jeffrey; and her brother, Raymond Orendorff. She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Orendorff.
A Christian Prayer Service for Marlene will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 29, 2026, at Wagner-Elfner and Burg Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 3070 Cape Horn Road, Red Lion. Interment will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery. There will be a viewing at the funeral home on Monday from 10 to 11 a.m.
