Obituary

Margaret J. (Barber) Ambuel, of Glen Rock, accepted the hand of her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at 12:30 AM at Spiritrust Lutheran The Village At Shrewsbury at the age of 80. She was the loving wife of the late Larry L. Ambuel who went home to his Lord and Savior on February 25, 2022. She was born in Wood River, Illinois on January 7, 1942 and was the daughter of the late Joseph Earl, Sr., and Mabel I. (Bowermaster) Barber. Margaret graduated from Livingston High School in Illinois, then married her husband on October 21, 1960. She followed him for many years as they moved from place to place with the military, doing this while raising her children. She was a homemaker, crossing guard, insurance agent and she was an accountant with the Red Cross. She loved children and worked with them every chance she had. When one was fussy, they would always be handed to Margaret who had the special touch in calming them down. She made numerous baby blankets to present to new parents in her congregation, she enjoyed cross stitch, traveling, she was an excellent cook, and her favorite color was purple. She will be remembered as the best wife, mother, and grandmother anyone could have. She was a member of the Stewartstown Baptist Church for eight years. Margaret and Larry have three children, a son, Randy L. Ambuel and his wife Nicole M. of Glen Rock, Deborah L. Grauel and her husband Jim, Jr. of Harrisburg, and Betty A. Lezama, also of Glen Rock. She has seven wonderful grandchildren: Breanna, Kailey, Josie, Gordon, Josh, A.J. and Penny. Margaret was one of five children, Jerry Barber and wife Nancy of Glen Carbon, IL, Captain Joe Barber, Jr., and wife Judy of Wood River, IL, Jimmy Barber, and wife Nancy of Dearborn, MI. She also leaves her sister-in-law, Sheila Barber of St. Louis, MO and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, James W. Lezama and her brother, Ray Barber. Viewing will be on Wednesday, September 14th from 10-11 am at Stewartstown Baptist Church, 18631 Five Forks Road, Stewartstown. A Service of Honor for Margaret will begin at 11 am at the church, with her pastor, Rev. Tim A. Parker, officiating. Burial will take place on Thursday, September 15th at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at 11:30 am. If attending the interment, please meet at the cemetery by 11:15 am. Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion is assisting the family with the arrangements.
